Choice: the act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.
Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have. – Ronald Reagan
The question of choice is always, what do you want?
You have this amazing life. One that has given you good and bad, pain and joy, ups and downs. Yet, you are still alive, still here, making choices. Choosing to do or not do.
I want you for a moment to close your eyes, take a deep breath, open your eyes, take out a piece of paper, write your name, scratch through that, write your birthday, smile. I want you to think about your childhood, any happy thought will do.
If you acted, you just participated in a list of commands. You did so with prompting but of your own will. You made a choice to do or not do. It is that same process, that same decision making ability, yes or no thinking that has created the life you live today. If we add a few more steps to the process and add in the context of your strengths and what you want out of this life we’ve just built a list of commands that have the ability to alter your tomorrow.
The Bold Act of Becoming Yourself is not a book of magic or steps. It is about you, the individual, choosing that above all things you will be you, you will excel, you will take control of your life.
Make a choice to do something, to be something, and act.
Where we get in trouble is this: the competing activity, voices, people in our in our lives, and our habits wage war against the person we want to become.
One choice.
Make the choice to head in a direction and choose that direction over and over again until your life comes into full view.
What choices are before you today? What is your keeping you from taking action? What will happen if you delay action?
Thank You For Reading:
After several research sessions, lot’s of positive self-talk, and morning journaling, I decided to write another book. Each week I will blog topics, concepts, and themes from my third title “The Bold Act of Becoming Yourself.” If an idea, concept, or comment comes to your mind — let me know in the comment section below. I’ve worked on this book for what it feels like a better part of almost two years. My goal is to release this work in 2019. #TheBoldSelf
